Lynne Schmidt Joins Qube Cinema as Senior Vice President to Lead Growth of New Exhibitor Products
Appointment
Qube Cinema, a global leader in digital cinema technology and distribution solutions, announced the appointment of Lynne Schmidt as Senior Vice President – Movie Wire. In this role, she will lead the commercial strategy, business development, market expansion, and product roadmap for Movie Wire, while also supporting broader growth initiatives across Qube’s portfolio.
Movie Wire connects exhibitors to a curated catalogue of repertory films, enabling discovery, licensing, and booking through a single platform. In its first phase, the focus is on building a high-quality, curated library by bringing multiple distributors under one umbrella, making it easier for exhibitors to access diverse catalogue content. Over the past few months, this effort has been focused on expanding the repository and deepening partnerships with content owners. The platform simplifies what has traditionally been a fragmented process, from content discovery to licensing and delivery. With integrated digital delivery and transparent box office settlement, exhibitors can confidently program one-off screenings, themed events, and curated festivals. Live Wire enables cinemas to live-stream events, concerts, sports fixtures, red-carpet moments, and special broadcasts, directly onto the big screen. Live Wire is moving beyond satellite delivery of live content and expanding the opportunity for global live events on both a wide scale and regional basis with a focus on quality and cost-effective distribution.
Live Wire has now scaled to over 400 connected sites across the United States and Southeast Asia, reflecting growing exhibitor interest in alternative content and event-driven programming.
Lynne brings nearly 20 years of experience in global content distribution, operations, and strategic partnerships, with a strong track record in the event cinema and entertainment industry. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President, Operations & Strategic Partnerships at Fathom Entertainment, where she led one of the largest event cinema platforms, overseeing the annual distribution of more than 100 titles across domestic and international markets.
During her tenure, Lynne played a pivotal role in scaling distribution infrastructure, securing high-value global partnerships, and driving multi-million-dollar growth initiatives. Prior to Fathom Entertainment, she held leadership roles at National CineMedia (NCM), where she contributed to business operations, financial strategy, and the successful evolution of Fathom as a standalone entity.
In her new role, Lynne will spearhead strategic partnerships with studios, exhibitors, and distributors, while championing the Movie Wire value proposition across the industry. She will play a critical role in ensuring strong product-market alignment and accelerating adoption of Qube’s cloud-based delivery solutions.
Additionally, Lynne will contribute to business development initiatives for Live Wire, Qube Wire, and other Qube services, further strengthening Qube’s integrated approach to digital cinema distribution and live event delivery.
“Lynne’s appointment marks an important step in strengthening our leadership team in North America,” said Harsh Rohatgi, Chief Executive Officer, Qube Cinema. “Her deep expertise in content distribution, combined with her proven ability to build and scale strategic partnerships, makes her uniquely positioned to lead Movie Wire’s next phase of growth. As we continue to expand our presence in the U.S., her leadership will be instrumental in delivering greater value to our partners.”
Commenting on her appointment, Lynne Schmidt said: “I’m thrilled to join Qube at such a transformative time for the industry. Qube’s innovative approach to content delivery is redefining how studios and exhibitors connect with audiences. I look forward to expanding the reach of Movie Wire and collaborating with partners across the ecosystem to deliver more efficient, scalable, and impactful distribution solutions.”
Lynne’s appointment comes at a time of significant momentum for Qube in North America, following key milestones including the rapid expansion of its WireTAP network across the United States. Her leadership will further accelerate Qube’s mission to create a fully connected, next-generation content delivery ecosystem for the global cinema industry.
