The Matrix (1999), released on the last day of March won all four categories it was nominated for at the Academy Awards (Best Film Editing, Best Sound, Best Sound Effects Editing, Best Visual Effects).

Sean Connery was director Jonathan Demme’s first choice to play Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs (1991), but he turned down the part which eventually would become Anthony Hopkins’ career-defining role. The movie went on to become a critical and commercial success after its release on Valentine’s Day, 1991.
